Vepric and Makarska

This excursion leads us from the heart of the Herzegovinian sanctuary of Medjugorje toward the beautiful Dalmatian coast, merging prayer in the silence of olive groves with the beauty of the Adriatic blue.

We begin our journey with a visit to the Vepric Shrine, known as the “Croatian Lourdes,” hidden in a natural cave at the foot of Mount Biokovo. It is a place where nature and spirituality blend into one, providing the perfect setting for recollection and the celebration of Holy Mass.

After spiritual refreshment, we descend to nearby Makarska, the heart of the Makarska Riviera. A city with a rich history, situated between a mighty mountain and the crystal-clear sea, it offers the opportunity to relax, stroll along the waterfront (Riva), and enjoy the Mediterranean atmosphere.

ITINERARY:
• Morning departure from Medjugorje.
Drive toward the border (BiH-HR) and continue via the A1 highway toward the Adriatic coast.
• Arrival at the Vepric Shrine.
Located at the very entrance to Makarska, its natural cave setting is ideal for personal prayer.
• Holy Mass (with your own priest).
Celebration of Holy Mass in the main cave or at one of the outdoor altars.
• Tour of the Shrine and the Stations of the Cross.
Time to walk the Stations of the Cross winding through the pine forest, visit the tomb of Bishop Juraj Carić (the shrine’s founder), and light candles.
• Departure for Makarska City Center.
A short 5–10 minute drive to the heart of the city.
• Lunch in Makarska.
Free time (or a reserved group lunch) at one of the restaurants on the waterfront or in the old town core.
• Sightseeing and Free Time:
• Visit the Cathedral of St. Mark on the main square.
• A walk to the St. Peter Peninsula for the most beautiful view of the city and Mount Biokovo.
• Return to Medjugorje in the afternoon.
