Pilgrimage Assisi, Rome, Loreto and Orvieto
ROME, ASSISI, LORETO AND ORVIETO – In the Footsteps of the Saints: A Pilgrimage to the Heart of Italy. – 7 days/6 nights
Dear pilgrims,
Before us lies a beautiful journey that connects the heart of Franciscan spirituality, the ancient roots of Christianity, and tangible miracles of faith. Setting out toward Assisi, Rome, Loreto, and Orvieto is not merely a tourist tour of Italy; it is an invitation to a profound encounter with the history of salvation, the beauty of art, and the power of holiness that continues to inspire the world today. This pilgrimage leads us through places where heaven met earth, leaving indelible traces of faith.
Loreto: Where the Word Became Flesh
We begin our spiritual journey in Loreto, in the silence of the Holy House of Our Lady. According to tradition, these walls were transported from Nazareth to bring us closer to the moment when Mary pronounced her “let it be done to me.” Within the walls of her home, we pray for the strength to accept God’s will in our own lives.
Assisi: The City of Humility and Eternal Youth
Our journey continues into the heart of Umbria, to Assisi. Here we breathe in the spirit of Saint Francis, who found perfect joy in complete poverty, and Saint Clare, whose courage and devotion paved the path of contemplation. Alongside these giants of faith, we also encounter a contemporary saint, the young Saint Carlo Acutis. His example as “God’s influencer” reminds us that holiness is not a thing of the distant past, but a call addressed to all of us today.
Orvieto: Adoration of the Living God
We continue toward Orvieto, a city that rises on a rock and preserves one of the most beautiful cathedrals in the world. Orvieto is the guardian of the Eucharistic miracle of Bolsena, where the host began to bleed in the hands of a doubting priest. We stand before the blood‑stained corporal in deep adoration of the mystery of Christ’s real presence.
Rome and the Vatican: Upon the Rock of Faith
Our journey reaches its climax in Rome, the Eternal City. Walking through the magnificent Roman basilicas, we touch the very foundations of our Church. A visit to the Vatican and prayer at the tombs of the chief apostles connect us with the universal Church and the successor of Peter, completing this pilgrimage as a journey from Mary’s “yes” to the victory of Christianity at the heart of the world.
Our pilgrimage ends here, beneath the domes of Rome, but our true journey is only beginning. From Loreto we carry Mary’s readiness to serve; from Assisi, Francis’s simplicity and Carlo’s youthful zeal; and from Orvieto and the Vatican, an unshakable faith in Christ’s presence. May these holy traces we have touched continually remind us that every day of our lives is itself a pilgrimage toward eternity. We return to our homes not the same as when we set out, but renewed by grace, ready to be a light to those we meet.
