Padre Pio Pilgrimage
PADRE PIO PILGRIMAGE: A JOURNEY THROUGH STIGMATA, PRAYER AND MERCY PIETRELCINA – SAN GIOVANNI ROTONDO – MONTE SANT’ANGELO – BARI – 6 DAYS/5 NIGHTS.
Dear pilgrims,
This pilgrimage follows the paths of one of the greatest mystics of our time – Saint Padre Pio.
We invite you to enter his world, from his humble beginnings in Benevento to the peak of his sacrifice on Gargano, so that through his intercession you may feel the power of God’s love.
Pietrelcina – Roots of Holiness
Everything begins in Pietrelcina, in the narrow stone streets where Francesco Forgione was born and where, as a child, he already felt an extraordinary closeness to Heaven. We will visit his family home and Piana Romana, the place where, under the crown of an old elm tree, he received the first invisible stigmata. Here we will discover the “little” Francesco, whose simplicity laid the foundations for the great miracles that followed.
San Giovanni Rotondo: The Heart of Our Pilgrimage
We will spend the largest part of our journey in San Giovanni Rotondo, the place Padre Pio called the “city of prayer and suffering”. Here we will stay close to his incorrupt body, praying before his relics in the magnificent new basilica.
• We will visit the old church of Santa Maria delle Grazie, where the saint celebrated Holy Mass for decades and where his wounds bled while he prayed for the salvation of souls.
• We will see his humble cell and the monastery corridors that still echo with his footsteps.
• We will stop at the “House for the Relief of Suffering” (Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza),
a visible proof of his love for the sick.
In San Giovanni Rotondo we will seek the grace of confession and inner peace,
just as thousands of pilgrims did while the saint was still alive.
Monte Sant’Angelo and Bari – Spiritual Allies
As Padre Pio himself encouraged pilgrims, we will visit nearby Monte Sant’Angelo.
In the ancient cave of the Archangel Michael, the saint himself sought strength for the spiritual battles,
recommending heavenly protection to all.
Our journey concludes in Bari, before the powerful relics of Saint Nicholas, thus connecting the mercy of Padre Pio with the goodness of the great bishop of Myra.
May this pilgrimage be a time of silence, prayer and personal encounter with Padre Pio.
May his words “Pray, believe and do not worry” accompany us at every step, so that we may return home strengthened and filled with God’s blessing.
