Hutovo Blato Photo Safari

Hutovo Blato Nature Park is one of the richest bird reserves in Europe and a true green oasis in the rugged Herzegovinian karst. Located near Čapljina, it spans about 7,400 hectares of untouched nature.

Key Features:
• Bird Paradise: An internationally recognized Important Bird Area (IBA) where over 240 species winter or nest.
• Water Kingdom: A unique system of lakes and the Krupa River, which is world-famous for flowing in both directions depending on the water level of the Neretva.
• Photo Safari: The most famous attraction—a ride in traditional wooden boats through narrow channels and water lily fields.
• Biodiversity: Home to over 600 plant species and numerous endemic fish.

ITINERARY:
• Morning departure from Medjugorje.
A pleasant drive through the karst toward Čapljina, with views overlooking the Neretva Valley.
• Arrival at the Nature Park (Karaotok).
Short coffee break on the terrace surrounded by tall poplars and the sounds of nature.
• Boat Photo Safari.
Boarding traditional wooden boats (lađa). A ride through narrow reed-lined channels and across lakes filled with water lilies.
• Walk and Viewpoint.
A gentle stroll along the walking paths of Karaotok. A short climb to a nearby hill offers a panoramic view of the entire marshland.
• Authentic Herzegovinian Lunch.
Lunch at Restaurant “Park,” famous for its traditional preparation of river fish.
• Free Time and Return.
Time for local souvenirs or a final walk by the water before returning to Medjugorje in the afternoon.
