Blidinje, Masna Luka, Stećci and Diva Grabovčeva

Situated in a high-mountain pass between the rugged peaks of Čvrsnica and Vran, Blidinje Nature Park represents one of the most beautiful mountain landscapes in Southeast Europe.

This untouched oasis offers a unique blend of natural phenomena, such as the largest reserve of Bosnian Pine (Munika), and deep history etched into stone medieval tombstones called Stećci.

ITINERARY:
• Morning departure from Medjugorje.
• Arrival at the Stećci Necropolis (Dugo Polje).
We begin at Dugo Polje, a UNESCO-protected site and one of the most important cultural landmarks in Bosnia and Herzegovina. A gentle walk among 150 stećci with views of Mount Vran—perfect for photography due to the vast openness of the field.
• Masna Luka: A Spiritual Oasis.
Next, we visit the most beautiful part of the park, Masna Luka, home to the Church of St. Elijah, which is perfectly integrated into the environment. This area is famous for the largest reserve of endemic Bosnian Pine in Europe. Accompanied by our priest, we can celebrate Mass and pray before the great prophet.
• Kedžara: The Legend of Diva Grabovčeva.
A short drive leads to Kedžara, a place of deep silence. We visit the grave and monument of Diva Grabovčeva, a symbol of faithfulness and defiance. Surrounded by dense pine forest, this location offers profound peace and spirituality.
• Lunch: Traditional Herzegovinian mountain cuisine.
• Afternoon Walk by Blidinje Lake.
To end the day, we descend to the lake itself. As the water is shallow, you can walk along the very shore. The sun setting behind Mount Vran creates incredible colors on the water’s surface—ideal for a final stroll before departure.
• Return to Medjugorje in the afternoon.
